Online course

It was goos that the course had games in which i was able to play just to escape from the course because it made me relaxed and it really did take away some of the stress and frustration it was putting on me.

Online course

I could hear the voice of the instructor which was a bit of a shock at first but it was interesting and made me feel as if the person was there with me, but not really there. So someone was actually monitoring my progression.

Online course

It feels like as if i have been typing for hours long non-stop and it is killing me...it feels like as if it is never ending and that I am getting nowhere and not making any progress.

Online course: Questions to remember when blogging

Why I wanted to do the course?

What I want to gain from the course?

What I have learnt?

Positives and negatives about the course online?

Did I achieve any of my outcomes, why or why not?

Overall learning expereience?

What is my learning style? -refer to excercise we did on finding out our learning style

Online course- typing with a cloth

One of the exercises I had to do when practising typing was typing with a cloth over the key board and not being able to see the keys. It was challenging but i guess it was no different when I was doing the first few excercises because I was trying to type without looking anyway just to try to touch type. I have set my WPM goal as 30 WPM just for now and once I achieve that I guess I can reset the WPM goal to a higher decibal. Even though my ultimate goal WPM is probably 60 WPM. I remember reading in one of my text books when conducting a reaerch assignment about setting goals and way to set and achieve your goal is to set small realistic goals that are achieveable instead of setting unrealistic ones that may put you down if you cant achieve it. The key is to work up to your desired goal by taking little steps instead of big leap. Just like using the analogy of walking, you walk faster taking little quick steps than taking large leaps.

I also remembered that I will only learn to touch type if i practice consistently, because once I stop i tend to forget what i learnt and alike at the moment I dont think I am typing the way that I was taught and have retracted back to my usual way of typing that is tping with only a using a few fingers.

Question: I wonder if typing enhances dexterity?

Online course

I downloaded the type quick demo from the internet because, initially when I was going to use the program on the disc it would not enable me to use the program without the program manual because it was part of an instructional guide to pass you through the exercises. So i guess that was one of the problems that inhibited my learning. Because I borrowed the program from my friend she forgot that you actually needed the manual to use the program whilst participating in the activities.

Online course

It has been about approximately 3 hours in to my course, I have been practising typing paragraphs in the online course and I feel I am getting better but my back and my eyes are getting sore so I think I will end it here for the day. My typing speed has shown to quarell around 22-27 WPM (word per minute). But I dont understand because at the beginnig of the course when I did the first typing exercise I received 27 WPM for my first test and it seems as though my typing speed is lowering. I think that the cause may be because I am getting tired and that means my typing speed is going to suffer. So I guess that may be a reason and also because I am more concious about which finger Iam using to type and trying to use all fingers at the same time. So I am trying to learn to use all fingers at the same time tryingto type as fast as I can.

Online course

I did a few exercises and didnt realise how many keyboard keys I was not familiar with. I guess because half most of the keys that I use are mostly the lettering and ot really any of the other fancy addtional keys. Also I have also realised that it is so much harder to type especially because I am trying to use the respective finger for each key. While I am typing at this very moment I am not really typing with the right fingers because I guess I am reverting back to my usual habits and it takes time to change like everything else we do, we learn everything through practice and once I guess I practice more on my typing through this course I will be ableto achieve the results. At the moment though I am very confused as to where each finger is suppose to go and which finger is suppose to press which button. I remember somebody saying to me that you have to rest your fingers on the keys board and sort of go up and down the board, but it seems my fingers are crossing over all over the place.

Online course

Today is my official date of the commencement of my online course, typing course. I took the first exercise and it seemed very easy but when I actually did it, it was really hard because I was not allowed to make any mistakes. When I type I usually just type without really worrying about spelling or grammar errors because I would normally just wait till the end, when I have finished my essay or whatever I am typing up and use the word correction tool, that way I can just work on what I have to do and not worry aout extra things that I can easily fix up later. Just from the little exercise I have realised that it very difficult to type and remember to use correct grammar and spelling. I always thought I was pretty average in typing, but really in reality, my typing skills are terrible. Hopefully by the end of this course I will be ale to increase my typing speed and if I coulkd touch type that would be a bonus for me, because its nothing worse than taking hours to type up an assignment when it cold easily be done in half the amount of time I usually take to type up an assignment.

Assignment Feedback

Hi Linda! It has been difficult for me to ascertain what you have/haven't done - particularly with the subscriptions to the e-Zines/e-Newsletters! If you want URLs to show in a blog you need to create a link - doesn't look like you have when I check you posts??
Anyway - for the purposes of this assessment task I'll have to trust that you have registered with each of the ones listed below!
That means you score 10/10 - well done!
Cheers - ABB

Evidence of subscription to e-zines and newsletters

I have enclosed a confirmation from one of the e-newsletters to show evidence that I did actually subscribe. But as I said earlier in one of my posts, some of the e-zines and newsletters do not send you a confirmation so I can not provide any evidence besides in probably a weeks time when they do send me updates and news.

A daily newsletter i received from e-Learning posts on the Sat 27th March, has topics related to 'the human factor', 'Convergy's but digital think', A case study on knowledge communities in japan' and many more.

The following passage is a confirmation from e-learners that they did receive my subscription.

Dear eLearners User-

You have been confirmed for the free eLearningJournal newsletter!
Issues are sent automatically every week via email.

Thank you again for using our site!

Subscription to e-zines and newsletters

I have subscribed to approximately 9 e-zines and newsletters but only 3 out of the 9 have sent me a newsletter and updates; that is 'e-learning post', 'VNU learning' and 'e-learners'. I think maybe because I subscribed about less than a week ago and they send you the newsletters every week. So it has not reached a week yet so that's probably why I havent received anything from the other e-zines or newsletters.

I am finding it difficult to do the most simplest tasks and I dont know why. My recent posts are not appearing on my blog website. The blogger system seems pretty easy but there are little errors that can prevent you from doing what you want. Arrrggghhh.....it is very frustrating....
This is another reason why I hate using computers because if you cant figure something out you dont have immediate help from a facilitator/teacher. Even though there are help options to guide you through the steps on how to do something, it has'nt helped me because I have tried and it doesnt help. I'm not that familiar with it yet so that's why I guess i am having these problems.

my blog website

This is my blog website.

E-zines and E-newsletters

1. Learning and training innovations- (magazine)

2. Education and technology in perspective- (magazine)

3. Linezine- (magazine)

4. TechKnowLogia-International Journals of Technologies for the advancement of Knowledge and Learning

5. e-Learning post- (newsletter)- actually a blog website.

6. The e-Learning Guild- (newsletter)

7. VNU learning (newsletter)

8. Brandon Hall- e-Learn research news and notes (newsletter)

9. e-Learners (newsletter)

Note: Each one of these e-zines and newsletters listed are atattched with a hyperlink to the actual website but is not viewed in this format for some reason.
Thanks for inviting me to your blog Linda! I don't see you e-zines & e-newsletter info but I guess that will arrive separately??
You will also need to advise me of your blog URL - at the moment I can only read it in the edit postings view - rather difficult!
Cheers - ABB

Module 1- assignment submission

Hi Anne,

If you are reading this obviously you received my invitation to become one of my team members. I also wanted to inform you that my lists of e-zines and newsletters will be posted up on my blog. I will have links that will refer to the e-Learning websites aswell.

Making my blog pretty

I was trying to change my blog so that it was going to be different to everyone elses but there was so much i could do from the options I have to choose from. But I guess this is partly the challenge of this whole assignment. I really don't like computers only because I'm not a wizzz at it. If I knew how to do what I wanted to do on the computer then my life would be a whole lot easier. By the end of this subject I hope to be able to challenge these difficulties that I've been having.

The one thing I hate about computers is that they NEVER do what you want them to do. I found it frustrating just trying to figure out how to add images to my blog and I searched everywhere on the site and then to my dissapointment, I was not able to add pictures because free users do not have the option to do so unless there is a direct web site for the actual photo alone. That was one difficult, but simple task that I was trying to achieve but I could not do it. I guess if I fiddle around with the features a few more times I will find a way, eventually.....

Expectations of e-Learning

My expectations of this e-Learning class is no way near to what it actually is. I thought this e-Learning class was going to be more theoretical, but in fact it has turned out to be better than I expected it to be. We are doing more hands-on stuff that is almost self-paced which I like and find it is a better learning strategy than being bombarded with loads of stuff to do on the computer with printed instructions that we have no idea of doing (like in our e-portfolio class last semester) where everyone was made to do it with step-by-step instructions from pieces of paper. Incorporating that strategy, I found myself more interested in getting the activity over and done with rather than learning it. Additionally, I am actually injesting all the information in our e-Learning class than i was in e-portfolio last semester.

Disadvantages of e-Learning

One of the dissadvantages that has inhibited my learnning in our e-Learning class is that there aren't enough resources (computers) available for every single student in our classes. Even though we share the computers with one other student, we share tasks and take turns, I find that I learn best if I actually do it myself by practising rather than watching someone do something. Although its not something that i can fix but I can improvise and next time I will try and get a computer to myself.
